Melany Cornejo

Melany Cornejo was born in Lima, Peru and raised in Miami, Florida. She attended Florida International University, where she graduated in 2014, with a degree in Psychology.

Melany attended St. Thomas University School of Law, where she graduated in 2019. While in law school Melany, as President and founder of the Family Law Society, aimed to connect the fields of Immigration, family and criminal law to aid law students and attorneys’ pair up for pro-bono cases. As pro-bono chair of the Immigration Law Students Association, she advocated for several Somali deportees, including Somali mothers with minor American children, in their application for asylum to avoid being sent back to Somali, where they would suffer bodily harm or death upon their return.

Melany is part of the personal injury protection (PIP) team where she represents the interest of medical providers for unpaid medical bills. Melany is also a member of the Broward County Bar Association and The Florida Bar, Young Lawyers Association.

In her free time, Melany enjoys traveling and spending time with her family.
